Baking Bucket List

At the beginning of this year, I wrote down a few goals I wanted to accomplish this year. Since I love to bake, I decided to make a list of things I have never made before. My list included the following:

Baking Bucket List

Basically, this is my Baking Bucket List for 2019.

As you can see, I have not made much progress.

But I have made a couple of batches of macaroons (macarons? does anybody know the correct way to spell this word?):

I still have quite a bit of almond flour, so I really should make another batch or two and experiment with different flavors and colors.

They really are not too difficult to make, you just need to make sure to really pay attention to the details.

And bagels?

I have been using a homemade sourdough bagel recipe from this cookbook: Artisan Sourdough Made Simple by Emilie Raffa

If you have a sourdough starter, you will want to give the bagel recipe a try. They are so delicious and really easy to make.

As far as the rest of my baking bucket list, I am not sure how many recipes I will try this summer.

After all, summer is not the usual time of year to spend a lot of time in the kitchen with the oven on.

What would you put on your baking bucket list?

Summer!

We have almost arrived at my favorite season of the year!

Summer

Those who know me well, know that summer is my favorite time of the year!

Long sunny warm days and nights make me so happy!

Last summer, I learned about this great group of ladies who have a purpose of having 'less chaos + more Jesus' in all things. Sacred Holidays have prepared some wonderful resources to help you have the best summer.

I have already downloaded and printed off their summer bucket list for women. They have one for kids too!

The point of the bucket list for me is to be intentional about enjoying the summer and to complete a couple of projects. With big emphasis on 'enjoy!'

There are things you can only do during the summer time. Can you imagine paddle boarding when it is freezing cold outside? That is a big no!

I hope you take a peek at all that the Sacred Holiday group has put together, and be sure to let me know if you plan on joining in on some of their fun summer projects!

Our Bucket List Date Night

Last weekend, my husband and I were able to go out for our monthly date night. Since I put the idea for each month in an envelope before Christmas, I am having a hard time remembering what is inside each envelope, which makes it a bit of surprise for me to!

On my Facebook page, I asked my friends to chime in with the favorite local restaurant. I was looking for something new and different. My friends did not disappoint us! We received some wonderful suggestions and decided to try a small family-owned Italian restaurant. So off we went with our paper and my camera to give this place a try.

We were greeted with a hug at the door! They made us feel like family!

Once we placed our order, Kev opened the envelope to see what our date task would be…create bucket lists! Time to dream! With our red pieces of paper and sharpies, we started writing down some dreams:

  • trip to Europe
  • drive down Highway One in a convertible Porsche
  • own a BMW M3
  • take a class at the Culinary Institute

As each course of our dinner came, we would eat and continue to write down some dream items on our lists.

  • work for Disney
  • go on a Compassion trip
  • race a car in a vintage autocross race
  • have all the camera equipment I would ever need

Each course was so amazing and delicious. We continued to eat our dinner and write down our dreams.

  • bobsledding
  • own and fly my own airplane
  • own Apple stock
  • have a work from home job with Compassion

We decided early on that we will be visiting this restaurant again soon!

  • own original artwork from a Disney artist
  • spend a couple of nights at the Ahwahnee in Yosemite

At one point during our dinner, our gracious hostess invited us back to the kitchen.

We began to wonder if they thought we were food/restaurant critics since we had been taking notes and taking pictures :)

  • visit the Louvre
  • have a vacation home by the beach

I know this is not the best picture of the two of us. The picture is a little out of focus and I only had the 50mm lens with me which is a manual focus lens. But we had a really nice time talking and dreaming and enjoying some amazing food that night.

What is on your bucket list?
